The overall picture is warm and values led, with the school presenting itself as a successful Catholic co-educational prep that welcomes children from other faiths too. Parents should still visit because the decisive question is whether the balance of warmth, challenge and ethos feels right for their child.

Assessment at St Ambrose Prep School is structured but personable, with clear tracking of progress, careful attention to core skills and enough individual knowledge of pupils to keep learning well tailored. Parents should expect regular communication, secure monitoring and enough stretch to prepare children well for the next stage without making assessment the whole story.
