• London Scandinavian School is warm, child centred and internationally minded, and aims to blend strong foundations with a more thoughtful pace of childhood.

• Will suit families seeking an Islington primary where Scandinavian warmth and child-centred learning feel more important than competitive prep-school theatre.

Admissions at London Scandinavian School are family facing and ethos led, with the key question being whether parents genuinely want a child-centred Scandinavian-style primary rather than a conventional London prep. The process is more about fit with the philosophy and bilingual flavour than about heavy formal selection.

Scholarships are not the point here. Families are more likely to choose the school for its educational philosophy, small scale and international flavour than for any awards culture.

The overall picture is clear and distinctive, with the school openly describing its Scandinavian ideas, warm community and child-centred approach. Parents should still visit because schools that lean heavily on philosophy need to feel convincing in person, not just attractive on paper.

Assessment is low drama but carefully observed, combining regular teacher judgement with steady monitoring of the basics and broader development. Parents should expect confidence, wellbeing and academic foundations to be discussed together rather than as separate stories.
