Parents like
- A persuasive choice for families who want one school journey from nursery to sixth form without giving up breadth.
- The attraction is scale: there is enough here to feel busy, ambitious and future-facing, especially in the senior school and sixth form.
- It is likely to appeal to parents who want co-curricular range, a clear careers programme and visible financial-support routes.
Admissions
AKS runs a whole-school admissions process from nursery to sixth form, but it still feels quite approachable: tours, open events and direct contact with admissions are clearly encouraged. Year 7 and sixth-form entry are particularly structured, so families get the sense of a school that is organised without becoming impersonal.
Scholarships
AKS has one of the clearest awards and support structures in this batch. It offers academic, art, drama, music and sport scholarships, alongside means-tested bursaries including sixth-form support from 10% to 100% of fees, plus clergy bursaries and sibling discounts.
Bursaries
AKS publishes several forms of financial support. Assisted Places are means-tested and primarily for new Year 7 and Sixth Form entrants, while the school also publishes bursaries for temporary and unforeseen financial hardship and separate clergy bursaries.
- Primarily new Year 7 and Sixth Form for Assisted Places; hardship bursaries are mainly for existing senior pupils; clergy bursaries may apply across age groups.
- Assisted Places offer up to 85% off fees, while the school’s Sixth Form guidance says bursaries can be full or partial from 10% to 100%. Clergy bursaries can reach two-thirds for one pupil or 75% where two or more siblings attend.
- Parents request the relevant financial-support form from admissions, provide confidential financial details, and awards are re-assessed annually.
Inspection snapshot
AKS has a fresh inspection story. The school publishes a 2025 ISI whole-school inspection report and highlights a 'significant strength' in careers, which gives families a recent external reference point for a large all-through day school with serious sixth-form ambitions.
